FAMILY DAY 2008
Page updated 10/24/08

Some of the early arrivals for Family Day 2006, a 26-21 win over N.C.
State.
Family Day 2008 will take place Oct.
25 against N.C. State. We are sold out of tickets. The UM ticket office is at (800) IMA-TERP. Wear red!
Gameday information is below. Some general notes:
• Showers, rain, etc., will
not stop the tailgate. Wear ponchos. Click here for weather in College
Park.
• Expected attendance at our tailgate at peak time will be in
the neighborhood of 40-50.
• Two or three tents will be joined together, under which will
go chairs
and the big TV. Three tables will be set up to house the food,
condiments, etc.
• If you have a cooler(s) and/or camping/tailgating chairs,
bring
them. You'll be able to store your stuff in one of probably seven cars
that will be parked in the permit lot at the tailgate area. We could
probably use one cooler specifically for bottled water and sodas for
the group.
• As far as adult beverages, it's BYOB.
E-mail PK
with what you'd like to bring. As info is received, the chart will be
updated and we'll have a better idea of who's bringing what and what
items may still be needed as the week progresses.

Parking
The tailgate takes place in Lot 1d on campus, which is a season-ticket
permit lot. Most of you will not have a permit. There are a couple
options within close walking distance to the tailgate. The Baptist
church along Campus Drive offers gameday cash parking for $15. Click
the link for directions. Or, PK has four (4) parking permits available
for the White Zone cash lots that are immediately adjacent to the main
entrance to campus from Route 1. These permits get you on campus, but
you'll still have to pay $15 upon entering the lots. These White Zone
cash lots are a healthier walk to the tailgate, but very close to an
entrance/exit. E-mail PK on or before Tuesday, Oct. 21 if you you like one of these permits mailed to you. Note these lots can fill up rather fast
and that Route 1 in College Park becomes very congested in the hours
leading up to a game. We'll welcome the team to the stadium at Terp
Alley 2.5 hours prior to kickoff, and cleanup of the tailgate will
begin about 1.25 hours prior to kickoff (how's that for good use of
decimals?). Click here for a low-resolution PDF map of the
parking/tailgate area that's suitable for color printing.
About
Family Day
The annual Family Day at the A-Game Tailgate has become one of our best
traditions. At one game a year, we show our appreciation for all our
parents and family members have done for us by treating them to game
tickets. They respond by bringing their signature homemade dishes for
the tailgate, and the result is a huge feeding frenzy that often leaves
participants rolling home instead of driving. Some of the dishes we've
gorged ourselves on in years past include Becca's dip, Father
Atkinson's BBQ chicken, Mother Krome's baklava, Rona's cookies, and of
course the standard Brats, lamb chops, and salmon, etc.
Maryland Victory Song
(Click
here to hear it!)
Maryland, we're all behind you
Raise high, the black and gold!
For there is nothing half so glorious
As to see our team victorious!
We've got the team boys, we've got the steam boys,
So keep on fighting, don't give in!
M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D!
Maryland will win!
