We got there at 3:15, and there was one other car in our lot. We parked next to the stadium, as you can see, and rose the flag with pride. Many people actually came up to me and told me that they used it as a marker, and a few said they read to look for it in that lot on agametailgate.com's FIU info page. It was a clear success. There were no FIU cars in our lot, and there were clearly more UMD fans than FIU. There was a lot more tailgaters with us, but they had all gone into the game when we took the group shot. It was the first run for my new flag pole and the flag, and they worked great as well. One last thing...when we broke out the Old Bay for the corn, we got many props, including some from Vivian Heyward-Bey, mother of Darrius. Click here for photos (no Kodak login required).

Parking lots at the Orange Bowl will open at 4 p.m. Dewey will have the Maryland flag up by then.

Note that there is considerable construction around the Orange Bowl. Click here for the stadium's official site and read the traffic advisory. From Interstate 95, take Route 836 to 12th Street and go over the bridge. Turn right onto 7th Street and the stadium (and Lot N1) will be on your left.
